Maeve ran as fast as she could, finally making it to Siobhán's flat. She tried the door, found it unlocked, and burst in. She surveyed the scene for only a moment. Teruko's back was to her, and she saw the furious look on Siobhán's face and her transformed state. She instantly moved between the two, throwing her arms out to defend Teruko.

"Wot th' fock, Sib?!"

"Maeve get away from her! She's gone mad!"

The music began playing though Maeve's mind.

A laugh like the gentle caress from a lover slipped between Teruko's lips. She wrapped her arms around Maeve from behind, resting her chin on Maeve's shoulder.

"Mae-chan," she began, then her wicked smile wavered. Confusion, then annoyance flickered in her eyes. Her grip slackened.

Maeve gasped slightly at the touch, her eyes going wide. Something definitely felt off about Teruko!

It felt like shadows were slithering over her skin, searching for a way in.

Something in her chest flared for a moment, before small, jet black vines emerged. They twined around her chest, reaching up for her neck and shoulders.   Slowly her eyes closed as she leaned back into Teruko, a content-- if slightly crooked-- smile crossing her lips as one hand reached up to caress the older girl's cheek.

"Hallo, Ter."

Siobhán stared at them both in utter disbelief.

"M-- Maeve what are you doing?! Get out of the way!!" The Irish girl opened one eye.

It was bright yellow.

"I don' think so." For a moment Teruko's eyes met Sailor Brigid's. There was fear there. Then the sultry malevolence was back. Her grip readjusted around Maeve. Shadows spiraled around her, seemingly to embrace the two.

"She wants me to ask you to take your crazy back," this Teruko purred. "She thinks you're a bad influence, and I'm an evil home wrecker of some kind."

"Is tha' so?" Maeve said softly, absently playing with a lock of  “Teruko's” hair. She pressed further back against her, giggling as the vines continued to wrap around her body. A few tendrils reached out for Teruko, twining through her shadows. "Then she clearly has no idea what she's talking about."

"I'm right here!" Sailor Brigid growled and stormed forward, grabbing the front of Maeve's shirt and tugging, trying to pull her away from Teruko.

"Teruko"'s grip was unnaturally strong. She chuckled and nuzzled Maeve.

"Aw, she's trying to take you from me." The darkness that was twined around the two of them seemed to surge toward Siobhán. "I don't think I will allow that."

Sailor Brigid reared back, the shadows grazing across her skin. She shuddered, then gasped as the vines coming from Maeve suddenly followed the shadows and wrapped around her ankles and wrists.

"Maeve, WAKE UP!!" Maeve let out an unhinged laugh, her head shifting so she could nip at “Teruko”'s ear. With a snap of her fingers, the vines pinned the transformed senshi against the wall.

"There, now she cannae do anythin'." The Irish girl murmured, nibbling on “Teruko”'s earlobe. Her giggle grating like the sound of breaking glass, "Teruko" wriggled against Maeve's back.

"I think this one is a bit of a prig. Do you want to give her a show?"

"MAE--" The rest of Siobhán's shout was cut off as a vine wrapped around her mouth. Maeve turned in "Teruko's" arms, her mismatched yellow-and-dark green eyes dancing as she wrapped her arms around the older girl's neck.

"Is tha' even a question?" "Teruko" grinned devilishly before pulling Maeve close, biting her neck.  She licked the bite mark before slowly sliding her moth towards Maeve's, running her lips against the soft skin of the girl's neck and jaw. Maeve moaned softly, tilting her head to give "Teruko"'s lips more room to cover.

"Ter..." She whispered, before meeting the older girl's lips with her own. She kissed her hungrily, before returning her own bite to "Teruko"'s neck. She pulled back a little, giving her an equally devilish grin before her hand slipped under her shirt. "Teruko" chuckled, nearly purring at the feeling of the girl's fingertips against her skin.  Sighing softly, she leaned into the touch.

"My little bird," she whispered.  The strange, hollow quality of her voice - a void within the darkness - seemed to spur the shadows within them both onward.  Her eyes flicked to Siobhán, behind Maeve. Smiling wickedly, she reached down, her hand slipping past Maeve's lower back, then grasping her firm, athletic butt.

Ensuring her eyes were locked on Siobhán's as she acted, this Teruko winked - and a tendril of solified shadow, flickering with strange patterns, wrapped itself around Siobhán's throat and squeezed.

Maeve moaned again and arched against Teruko, continuing to give her hungry kisses as her hands began to roam. She practically molded herself against the older girl, brimming with desire and lust.

Siobhán fought frantically to free herself, to stop this disgusting display before her, but the vines and shadows only squeezed tighter. 'Help-- someone, help me!!'

"This is not what I was expecting," a velvet voice echoed through the room.  A high pitched whistle cut through the air, and several bursts of dark energy flew past Maeve and "Teruko", slamming into and destroying the vines holding Sailor Brigid in place.  The shadows around her throat hesitated, then pulled away, as if by some unseen hand.

Through the doorway, a tall man in a nearly-black butler ensemble strode, a black masquerade mask hiding his eyes.  A rune glowed on his forehead. Sailor Brigid collapsed to her knees, gasping for breath. She scrambled to her feet, putting as much distance between herself and the mad women as possible. Maeve broke away from "Teruko" briefly, taking in the newcomer. She grinned that unsettling grin at him, her hand running down Teruko's spine to her rear as she pressed close once more.

"Come ta enjoy th' show as well?" The man scoffed.

"Hardly. I felt someone using shadow energy... I have to admit," he murmured, eyes on "Teruko". "I am surprised by what I have found."

This Teruko was glaring at him, mouth drawn down into a furious scowl.

Before "Teruko" could do anything else, the shadows that had wound around her suddenly convulsed, then changed their position from caressing and encouraging to restricting.  She screeched as she was yanked away from Maeve and pulled to the floor.

Bucking wildly, the "Teruko" tried to free herself.

"By the Archive, Teurko, what have I done to you?" Shadow Servant whispered in horror.

"Ter!" Maeve ran forward to help "Teruko", but a wall of blue fire suddenly erupted into life in front of her. Screeching, she staggered back, swiping at her eyes as if to clear her vision. Sailor Brigid grabbed her by the shoulders, her lips drawn into a thin line.

"I'm sorry about this." She took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Words formed in her mind. "Holy Flames, Surge Forth!"

A ring of fire burst out from her chest, surging through Maeve's body as Sailor Brigid tried to target the madness that had taken complete control of her. Maeve screamed in agony before collapsing, shadows filtering out of her body like smoke. Siobhán nearly toppled, her vision going grew from the effort of the attack.

A faint image appeared in front of the Irish girl's chest-- Half of a crystal, or what remained of it. Only a small "core" of the crystal remained intact, a pale light guttering madly, like a candle caught in a windstorm. Dozens of other shards danced around it, nearly all of them completely blackened. They chimed together cacophonously, the sound hair-raising.

This was what remained of her star seed.

Shadow Servant walked over to the crumpled form of Maeve. Shadows had covered "Teruko"'s mouth so her angry cries were muffled.

He knelt next to Maeve, reaching a hand out to the shards.

"So much damage... Some of it from me.  For that, I am truly, endlessly sorry." He called out to the shadows in the shards, bidding them to heed him, trying to force it to at least reform in part; if nothing else, trying to pull some of the darkness out of the slivers of star seed. Maeve shuddered as faint tendrils of shadows began to rise from a few of the shards, reaching up toward Shadow Servant. Her back arched as the shards chimed more loudly, as though trying to scold him.

"Is... Is that... Her soul?" Siobhán asked weakly as her transformation fell away.

"Not necessarily," he responded, frowning. He scolded the shards right back. "These don't belong to you, give them back to me.  And honestly, if you're so desperate to cling to life, why did you let yourself fall to pieces in the first place?"

He pulled out what shadows he could, having no real power over the star seed itself, then he sank the crystal back into the girl's chest.

Looking over at Siobhán, he sighed and hung his head.

"I.. have no idea what is happening here.  I had.. some inkling something was wrong, but I've been so wrapped up in my ... well.  In myself."

He stood and strode to "Teruko".  He stared down at her, writhing on the floor, snarling.

"This... I did this.  Morrigan's tainted her, made her more unhinged, but I did this to her.  What was left behind when I killed her, what was left shattered and incomplete, grew.. this... to compensate for what I stole.  A little bit of madness here and there, a little bit of darkness, and a bit of the curse that I took into myself when I hurt Illuminis." He closed his eyes against the ache in his heart. "I will do what I can now."

Holding his hand over her form, he called to the angry shadows inside of her.  She screamed, biting down hard on the solidified shadows in her mouth, as a black rosebud appeared above her chest.  It unfurled and emitted dark slivers of shadow.  Teruko's form stilled and her head lolled at the shock in her body as the dark essence exited her and floated above her breast.

Siobhán sank to the floor, watching everything unfold. She could barely bring herself to react, let alone speak. A dull roar began in her ears.

"You... you're Tenebris... aren't you...?" She looked at Teruko's limp form, then back at Maeve. She didn't even realize she'd started crying until she saw her tears drip onto the floor.

"What happened... why... I thought... I remember you and Illu... you were so..." Her thoughts weren't even hers anymore. Were they Ériu's She felt light headed.

"They both-- we both... Illu and I, we... we have the same fate... don't we..." She pressed a shaking hand to her forehead. "Teruko's shattering... Maeve's shattered... everything's just broken..." She looked up at Shadow Servant.

"And I fear it can't be fixed, Ten..."

The man sighed, gathering the few shadows that he had been able to draw from Teruko.  He was not strong enough with his powers bound to the tattoo on his back. He knew that her soul was still darkened, the core flickering as it tried to fight the oppressing shadows.

"You ladies, every one of you, have such a fate complex. Fate is something you overcome, not something you bow to." He gestured and the rose dissipated. Teruko began to rouse, the light returning to her eyes.  She blinked at Siobhán, confused, then saw where Maeve lay crumpled.

A sound between a sob and a garbled cry of anguish emitted from her throat as she tried to lift an arm to reach for her. Anscom/Tenebris quickly used a surge of energy to render her unconscious.

Siobhán/Ériu sighed, slowly pushing herself to her feet.

"Did you... really have to... do that?" She asked feebly. He eyed Siobhán.

"Yes, I had to do that. Do you want her crystal shattering further? I will not allow her to indulge in despair. The curse will consume her sailor crystal and take her." Behind the English girl, a portal of blue light appeared. Within moments, Brigid stepped through, looking every inch the vengeful goddess.

"What in the name of the First is--" she cut herself off, surveying the scene with a mix of confusion and... disappointment. "Are ya kidding me?! I'm too late?!" Siobhán looked over at her, scowling.

"Where... the bloody hell..." Her eyelids fluttered as the roaring in her ears escalated. She swayed on her feet. "...were...you..."

She passed out, falling into Brigid. The goddess looked down at her and sighed, picking her up and plopping her on the couch.

"Nothing but trouble." She muttered, before turning to Anscom. Finally she seemed to notice him, her eyes going wide for a moment.

"...Tenebris?"

He smiled indulgently, removing the eye mask.

"Milady Brigid. Here to help carry them to their rooms?" Her eyebrows shot up, but a small smile crossed her lips.

"It's been a long time, hasn't it?" She sighed and gathered Maeve up in her arms. "I'm surprised to see dear Illuminis is such a state. Astonished, to be frank. I knew this... Teruko was different, but..." She gazed sadly at the girl. "What happened between you two to cause this? You were so much in love the last time I saw you..." Tenebris exuded shame.

"I... The nature of my kind is to obsessively embody something. My obsession with learning allowed me to be tricked into giving in to that madness." He carefully lifted Teruko into his arms, discarding his mask. It became a burst of jet black feathers as it struck the floor.

"I became obsessed with a recipe to manufacture a blade that could kill a god, unaware that a curse had entered my soul the moment I accepted the book from the angel Gabriel." His words were laced with bitterness as he wrinkled his nose in disgust. "He had met Illuminis and identified her as the perfect catalyst. I... destroyed her, tearing her corporeal form to dust and breaking what would be more or less her star seed to form the base of the sword."

He didn't look at Brigid. His entire body was nearly vibrating with the strain of his guilt.

"It gets much worse. Pip there calls me a murderer for good reason. I... wish not to discuss it now. Since Teruko is a mortal abstract of Illuminis, she can't forgive me for the things I have done. That is. .. acceptable." He turned to Brigid then.

"You may hate me as well. My obsession responded to Aine's poison. I had not imagined that would be here." He looked at Maeve's form, his expression closed. His voice was thick when he continued. "I became... not myself in her presence. Morrigan. .. I didn't realize it was her at first. I bedded Aine believing her to be some insolent fae who took her name. Then the shadows and madness surged around us, and too late I began to understand. I have made this situation exponentially worse."

Brigid sucked in a breath, visibly shaking as well.

"Morrigan always did care so deeply for you. She longed for the kind of relationship you and Illuminis had. And now look where this has all gotten us." She shook her head, looking from Maeve to Siobhán. "One sister lost to madness, another torn in two, and the third spiraling out of control. And I cannot stop it." She looked away, but Anscom could still see her tears.

"I'm all but completely drained, Tenebris. The Autumn Court has dissolved into chaos, Morrigan's eldest daughters battling for the throne. The others I am only barely able to contain on my own. This... all of this, with these girls... I am at fault. I've nearly descended into madness myself from the strain." She choked a sob.

"And now... seeing them like this... It's too much, Tenebris. Too much suffering. I'm the damned Goddess of Healing and I can't DO anything!" Tenebris shifted Teruko so that he could place a hand on Brigid's shoulder.

"Illuminis would tell you this: hope is always there, even when all seems utterly lost. I truly believe this can be fixed. If. .. If Teruko could free me from that curse and I could be given a second chance. .. Even find. .." He blushed. An uncommon occurrence for the collected Angel. "Find someone who needs me as much as I need her.... This can be fixed.

"I didn't know your realms are under such strain. Shall I send some of my acolytes to you? They can work unseen and unknown." Brigid looked at him for a moment, shivering slightly before nodding.

"That... I would be eternally grateful if you could. This... I cannot trust anyone in the other Courts. Many of the Houses have longed for an opportunity to seize power, and this is slowly turning into a game of thrones. Even I fear for my safety." She shook her head, taking a deep breath.

"But I will persevere. I have to, for myself and the sake of my sisters " She looked down at the unconscious girls. "We'd best get them to their rooms. Come, we'll use my portals. It sounds as though the mortals here would be... less than receptive to see you carrying Teruko around unconscious." She smiled faintly. "Reminds me a bit of when she got too drunk off of our wine at that Feast."

Tenebris chuckled low in his throat, an underlying current of crushed velvet and silk riding the sound.

"She didn't believe me when I told her fae wine works on Angels. I'll call for my most trusted acolytes and send them to you. I can. .. Try and see if Illuminis' little handmaid, Lux, can come to see you for a 'visit'."

He turned to look at Siobhán.

"Thank you, Tenebris." She smiled earnestly at him. She glanced over at Siobhán as well.

"She's starting to remember... I wonder how much she'll recall..." Tenebris looked at Brigid then.

"Who is she, Brigid, other than your chosen soldier?" Brigid sighed, shifting Maeve in her arms.

"Didn't you think it strange that the girl I'm holding only had half of a star seed?"

Tenebris arched his eyebrows.

"I assumed she was only hosting that half, and her own mundane human star seed is in there as well. Is she the actual reincarnation of one of your sisters? Or an unfortunate human who got tangled in the mess we made?"

"The latter, I'm afraid. I'm not sure how much of her original star seed is left, but after Ériu... after she died, I took the two halves of the star seed she formed to seal Morrigan away, and hid them within two young children who I thought would never meet. The half with my sister sealed away I placed in a child filled with light, who I hoped could naturally purify the madness. And the half with Ériu's memories and gifts I placed in a child with a dark future, to try and counteract what fate had written for her.

"But... I made a mistake. A grave one. And now we see the consequences..." Brigid sighed. "These two were never meant to meet. Yet here they stand, the best of friends." Tenebris considered this.

"I don't think you can blame yourself. Consider this: Maeve and Siobhán were likely drawn together by Eiru. And Maeve. .. She found Illuminis, even as neither knew the other existed. Not in their current forms. Is it not feasible that bonds that strong will inevitably be impossible to break?" He left the question in the air, regarding Maeve's form.

"I suppose so." Brigid murmured. "This Maeve... she loves Teruko dearly, and I believe the sentiment may be mutual. But... with the other fragments of personalities within her-- within both of them..." Her voice trailed off. He shrugged.

"She's Illuminis with her memories restricted. Not a different person. As much as she feels she is." He sighed. "I suppose we should take them to their homes. I hate to admit it, but it may be best for that annoying boy to take care of Teruko for now. And. .. Keep them separated."

"They're not going to like that." Brigid sighed, but nodded. "You're right. If their darkness is feeding off of each other, they must be kept separated until this can all be fixed." She formed another portal. He looked at her, hesitating.

"I don't suppose you have any charms that would make this boy less of an idiot? I dread how this will go. Maybe I'm lucky and he won't be in her room." Brigid raised an eyebrow and snorted.

"Since when has our luck ever been good, old friend? If you prefer, we'll get Maeve settled in before we take Teruko over. That way, I can... what's the phrase? 'Back you up'?" He grunted.

"That would be best. Off we go then."

The duo stepped through the portal, instantly finding themselves in Maeve's room. It was in its usual state of disarray, pages of sheet music once again gracing the floor. This time, however, there was a surprisingly large pile of crumpled sheets around her keyboard. They each bore similar sets of notes, but all of them were crossed out in some way. Atop her work bench, a few half-finished figurines rested, waiting to be worked on again. They all appeared to be birds of some kind.

Brigid took in the mess with an eye roll, before setting Maeve down on her bed.

"As if there were any doubt whose soul you held..." She muttered to the unconscious girl. Tenebris wrinkled his nose.

"Honestly." Brigid glanced back at him, folding her arms and smirking.

"I recall you leaving my library in a similar state, O Shadow Archivist." He looked at one of the half-finished figure with overdone interest.

"Oh look, it's a duck." It was clearly not a duck. Brigid laughed, walking back toward him.

"No one can say we didn't have our fair share of fun in those days." She elbowed him lightly, grinning. "Let's take this little one back to her room and see if our good fortune manages to hold." He chuckled.

"Do you still have a beauty mark on your. .. Lower back?" he ribbed, shifting Teruko's weight to a more comfortable position.

"Indeed. Care to see it?" She gave him a flirtatious glance. He tsked.

"I'm a taken man now my dear. I know my charms are difficult to resist though."

"Doesn't make it any less fun to tease ya." Brigid grinned, before opening up another portal. "Come on, then. The sooner we get her tucked in, the sooner you can go back to your new lovely lady." The portal flickered slightly as Brigid tried to locate Teruko's room. "Ah there we are, this should be it." She stepped through. He followed, smiling softly. Brigid stepped into the room, taking in the decor. It took her way back, to the time when Illuminis and Tenebris had first visited the Courts.

"Now this feels familiar." She murmured, running a hand along a crystalline lamp. "Shame about all the crystal, it could do with a more organic touch." Tenebris chuckled as he followed through.

"Minerals too inorganic for you?" He asked. He looked around, taking on the soft blues and creams, the gray of the couches.

"I wonder where that Guardian of hers is." Brigid rolled her eyes.

"Ya know how my Court looks, Tenebris. I like living plants, not dead stones." She still chuckled despite herself. Her brows knit together when she heard a faint noise.

"Do you hear something?" He nodded, frowning. Moving cautiously, he gently set Teruko on her sofa, then stalked toward the bedroom. Muffled scrabbling was coming from the linen closet. He backed out and arched an eyebrow at Brigid.

"I think my question was just answered. Shall I open it?" Brigid frowned and moved forward, opening the closet herself.

"What in the Earth Sea and Sky?!"

The silvery white cat Guardian was halfway out of a cloth bag he had clearly torn through. The inside of the door was covered in claw marks. His small chest heaved and he stared wildly up at her with angry blue-green eyes.

"That... Was the worst three hours... Of my life."

"By the First..." Brigid bent and gently picked him up. Faint blue flames danced around her hands as she stroked his fur, restoring him.

"What happened to you, little one?" He huddled into her, shaking.

"I knew something was wrong the moment she woke up. I started questioning her, and when I protested her intent to go out, she hit me with some strange energy and stuffed me into a bag," he shuddered.  "That wasn't Teruko. I cannot hear Illuminis in her, and Teruko's mind is suppressed." Brigid glanced at Tenebris, then sighed.

"I know... I saw that too. Whatever was controlling her... We may have been able to stop her for now. I can try and put a seal on her, but..." Her shoulders hunched slightly. "I don't know if I have the strength to maintain it for long. Even being away from my home for this long is starting to wear me thin." Tenebris shook his head.

"If Maeve has been any indication, all attempts to seal it are useless."

Evangelion craned his head to stare at Tenebris.

"Anscom? Why are you here? I thought Teruko's repeated attempts to break your face with produce would have sunk in by now."

Tenebris scowled.

"I realize our encounters have never been pleasant, Guardian, since we did not know each other before my fall. However I assure you I am only trying to help." Brigid sighed, taking a step away from Tenebris.

"I suppose so. In that case..." She looked down at Evangelion. "Little one, I know you are not happy with this situation, but something's happened." She explained everything that had happened back at Siobhán's apartment.

"I've known Tenebris and Illuminis for a long time, I consider them both dear friends. And now that Morrigan is beginning to break free, I am involved in this too." She continued stroking the cat's fur. "I will do what I can to help, but for now, you must keep your charge away from Maeve. Their madness feeds off each other's, and we've seen what happens if they stay around each other too long." She paused.

"Ériu's sacred day has always been Beltane. If she is at her strongest at that point, her residual consciousness residing in both Maeve and Siobhán may be able to fight its way forward in them both. I believe that would be the best time to try and eliminate Morrigan for good."

"No."

Tenebris' lips were pressed together.

"I cannot abide killing her. Freeing them and purifying the taint is the only option."

Evangelion stared at him. This was not what he expected from this man. Brigid stared at him, stunned.

"Tenebris... you know as well as I do that would have been my first option too." She bit her lip. "There is a reason we had to seal her away in the first place... If we could have purified her, we would have done so long ago. But as things stand... this is the only option." He shook his head.

"And my curse was irreversible." He arched his eyebrows. "And Maeve and Siobhán should never have met. And Teruko should be dead. She was consumed by the galaxy cauldron." Brigid scowled at him.

"Very well, then I'll leave discovering how to reverse my sister's madness to you, since you clearly hold the answers to everything!" He grinned wickedly.

"You wound me.  I am master and slave to the dark archive, Brigid. If course I know everything."

He gestured to Teruko.

"'Hope is always there, even in the darkness.' There must be a reason we all found each other."

"And you're still an insufferable egotist." Brigid quipped, but smiled. "There must be indeed. Maybe... maybe now it will finally end..." she sagged slightly. "That... would be a dream come true." Tenebris gave her a side hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"Go home. I will see to things here."

Brigid smiled and nodded, returning the gestures. She gently set Evangelion down and summoned a new portal.

"If you need anything, please do not hesitate to call upon me. I'll try and get here as quickly as I can." She gave him a sad look. "Please take care, old friend."

He returned the smile. For a brief moment, the guilt, regret, and sheer sadness he had bottled up showed in the slight dropping of his shoulders, the tiredness of his smile, the set of his eyes. Then he aid straight and proud again, his mask of cool indifference in place again. He bowed deeply to her.

Evangelion watched the exchange with growing worry.

She noticed the drop of the mask. With a small sigh, she walked to Teruko, resting a hand on the girl's head. Faint blue flames flickered between her fingers as she murmured in an old language. A prayer for peace and healing.

"Please be careful, Illuminis. I don't want to lose you, too." She whispered, before walking through the portal and disappearing.

Teruko stirred from the touch, then drifted info a deeper, more peaceful sleep.

Tenebris sighed.

"Back to 'Anscom'," he muttered. "I need to call on Katharina, I think."

Evangelion looked at him sharply. He shrugged.

"While you're all getting involved in crazy, we're having outings to the tea parlor."

His Butler uniform dissolved and he pulled his communicator from the pocket of his dark teal coat. He fired off a quick message to Katharina.

"Teruko hurt. Needs a friend. Please come keep her and her cat company. She can't see Maeve for a while. Talk more later."

He then used a separate device to send instructions to the angels at the archive, directing his most trusted and powerful acolytes to go to Brigid. Finally, he sent a request to the Crystal Spire in Illumina asking that Lux, the handmaiden to the ruler Illuminis, be sent to act as handmaid to Brigid until she was dismissed by Illuminis or Brigid herself.

Rubbing his forehead, he sat in an armchair to wait.

Explaining things to Alexis would be like pulling teeth.

He slid downward, long legs tucking under the coffee table, and sulked.

**

Back in their respective rooms, Siobhán and Maeve slowly began to stir.

Siobhán tried to push herself up, only for her vision to go grey. Her entire body ached, and she felt utterly spent.

"I put too much energy into that attack..." She murmured, thinking out loud because her mind seemed to refuse to create coherent thoughts at the moment. She pressed a shaking hand to her forehead, replaying the events before her collapse again and again. This... This was a disaster. And seeing what little remained of Maeve's starseed terrified her.

How much longer did the girl have before it shattered completely?

She looked around the room, realizing she was alone. Where had the others gone...?

She finally managed to grab her communicator and fired off a couple of messages.

"Elation, we need to talk ASAP. Situation's gotten much worse."

"Rin, can check on Maeve please? Don't know where she went, can't check on her myself."

And finally,

"Kamiko, would you mind coming by when you get a chance? I need your help with something."

It was time to call in the cavalry.

**

Maeve slowly sat up, her head pounding.

"Ugh, how much did I drink...?" This had to be the world's worst hangover. She felt dizzy, sick. What had happened? What day was it, even?

That strange dream, almost like watching herself through a camera. Her and Teruko-- She blushed deeply, trying to push those images away. That was the LAST thing she needed to be thinking about right now!! She shuddered, more of the scene filling in. So much... darkness? Insanity?

Why did it feel so real?

A new throbbing pain made its way into her mind-- her neck? She ran a finger along her neck, feeling two crescent raised marks on her skin. They hurt to touch.

"Wait, didn'--" That's where Teruko had bitten her in the dream. The way she'd looked--

Oh God...

"No..."
EDIT: I never actually submitted this to SMV so... HERE IT IS 8D

It's already linked to on the OTRubik's plotline journal so some of you who follow these dorks already read it.

Oh damn. Here I thought it was a new part. *sigh* I guess I wait for the next installment all this crazy shit.
