Edit 01-31-2015: I took some notes from Cionie's helpful critique and tried to apply them. :)

I had Razzl3erry for the :iconsmvillage: Secret Santa.  I decided to try something I had kind of done before (I have a pencil sketch of Sailor Moon turning into Princess Serenity somewhere in my gallery), someone with their clothes mid-transformation. Alvarie's transformation according to her profile includes ribobns that come out and cover her then poof her form is changed, sooooo I took some artistic license.

The manga implies their gtransformations are pretty instantaneous, so I went with the "clothing magically receding and hair changing colors" route. I hope that it looks like her hair is becoming liquid by you get to the tips. That was kind of hard to draw....

I know that is not the boot/stocking she is usually wearing in her profile but I wanted to see if I could come up with something else that was still as eccentric and interesting as Alvarie herself.

Edit: Heeeee made some minor corrections. >w>

Can you tell it's sparkle tiem?sparkle emote

Thou hast requested a critique I see <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w…" width="15" height="15" alt=";)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="387" title=";) (Wink)"/>

There are some really awesome parts to this piece, I think the strongest being the idea behind it. Transformations are a theme in Sailor Moon art that takes on many different forms, and I'm glad to see you really challenge yourself with this composition. Normally I'm not a fan of when a piece is split down the middle but I think you pulled it off pretty well here. It helps that the figure is twisting and the outfit is changing at an inconsistent pace, allowing breaches over the halfway line. Next strongest point would be color. There's a great contrast between the warms and cools in this piece, and they don't seem to be regulated to one side or the other, helping avoid that "split down the middle" feeling.

One of the places I'd really like to see improvement is also with the color. While you've attained some really beautiful color combinations and depth in places (such as her stocking and the yellow dress) there's a jarring difference in the light in the image. There doesn't seem to be any consistent light source in the image other than the glow from her henshin item, yet we see uncharacteristically deep shadows around her stockinged leg, yet an incredible amount of light highlighting her left side (senshi side). The contrast would work if the deeper colors stayed consistent on her civilian side, yet we see the same light from her senshi side on her pick hair, elbow and her skirt. Her stocking being the darkest point in the whole image.

The next point of improvement would be the line work, I think. You've got some nice control over the line work in the outfit and most of her hair, but there are harsh black lines that just appear and stick out like a sore thumb (main examples being her senshi-side foot, the top of her hair and her eyes). Try softening the color and brush you're using to keep the lines consistent with the rest of the outlines in the drawing. When it comes to her eyes, the black lines take away any light the rest of her face seems to be getting and makes her eyes look detached from her body.
